Nancy and Roy have been studying the Spanish language. Many textbooks come with audio CDs to learn the pronunciation. Unfortunately the vocabulary words are just spoken one after the other and it's hard to catch some of them and harder still to learn them that fast.

We found a free flashcard program that can import text and sound files called Before You Know It LIte. Besides the straight flashcard mode there are several activities where you have to type in the text of either the English or the Spanish as a response. That's a real good way to really learn to spell the words and it even requires the proper accents to be scored correct.

We get a lot more out of the class by knowing the words ahead of time.

The link above gives you a single Zipped file that includes the latest version off all the files below. You can unZip the files to your hard drive, then import them all at once.

Note that the Zipped file includes the proper Spanish accent marks in the file names that become the titles of the word lists in Before You Know It. The individual files below loose the accent marks when handled by the Unix based Web host. Windows handles the accent marks properly.
