Brisbane

We stayed in Brisbane the last night in a cheap hotel near the airport so we would be ready to go in the morning. Since there was nothing to do at the hotel other than watch a tiny teley in a hot room we decided to explore Brisbane with the help of the hotel owner's directions. We are glad we did. Brisbane is a delightful city. We took the CityCat fast boat from the outskirts of the city to the heart of downtown. It was fast and cheap. Here is another CityCat going the other way on the river. There were beautiful homes along the river the the owners could take the boat right to work.

Brisbane has lots of bridges over the river. Roy and Nancy took up places in the bow of the CityCat to catch the views.

The city is a mixture of old government buildings and ultra modern commercial high rises. The CityCat docks appeared every few blocks on alternate sides of the river. Folks who live and work near the river have only a few steps to make on the way to and from work. Even if you don't work downtown it's nice to take the boat to the shops the theaters and not have to worry about parking.

Chuck and Nancy in ANZAC Square, the center of Brisbane.

Downtown Brisbane and the Victoria Bridge at night. Chuck and Nancy under the steel arbor along the riverfront. We took a walk there and had our last meal in Oz at a Chinese take away place and ate it overlooking the river.
