The parade at Carnaval is incredible. In fact they have four parades, one each day starting from Sunday through Ash Wednesday. That includes Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gra.
Here's Nancy and Chuck sitting on the curb waiting for the parade. We took up spots 45 minutes before it was due so we had plenty of time to drink a tall cold one. When the parade arrived there were a lot more people there.
The police got to lead the parade. The crowd was pelting the police cars, the beer trucks, the floats and the people on the floats with confetti filled eggs as well as Silly String and some sort of foam spray. Of course many of the float riders came with their own ammunition and everyone went home with multicolored hair and clothes.
There was the obligatory marching band, but they didn't bother playing their instruments because the music from the big speakers on the floats drowned them out.
Many of the trucks towing the floats can adorned with a beer company girl on top.
Beauty Queens abounded. Many of the floats were filled with gorgeous women in gowns covered with jewels and gold.
The Corona Beer truck is going to need a good wash job before the parade tomorrow! The blower for the dancing beer can costumes quit leaving them flat. The guys on the roof of the hotel were nailing the float riders with eggs.
UFO's spotted! Notice the two objects in the sky on the left of the first photo? We saw lots of these. Actually they are the colored eggs, or at least egg shells filled with confetti.
No one was too young to participate in the egging. This little fellow was just waiting for the right target in the crowd.
How can you not be happy when you see smiles like this?
The floats had all sorts of exotic teams.
