Nancy and Roy took a course in the Spanish language at Miramar College. The textbook used is ¡Tú dirás! and it comes with audio CDs to learn the pronunciation. Unfortunately the vocabulary words are just spoken one after the other and it's hard to catch some of them and harder still to learn them that fast.
We found a free flashcard program that can import text and sound files called Before You Know It LIte. Besides the straight flashcard mode there are several activities where you have to type in the text of either the English or the Spanish as a response. That's a real good way to really learn to spell the words and it even requires the proper accents to be scored correct.

We get a lot more out of the class by knowing the words ahead of time.
