First of all we would like to thank Marvin Parr and Anita Gomez at

Mazatlán Property Group

for making our dream of owning a home in Mazatlán a reality. They went so far beyond what real estate agents usually do that we would have to call their service something completely different. Marvin and Anita supported us and invented solutions to seemingly impossible roadblocks all along the way.

We are well into our relationship with Marvin's team as the remodeling and upgrading the house proceeds. Marvin has an architect on staff and crews of specialized construction experts to carry out our plans. Those plans are moving along very nicely.

The main casa is on the first level and there is an apartment on the second level. We have added a new bedroom and bath to the apartment and new stairs at the front for direct access to the apartment from the street.

The Original Condition page shows the casa the way we found it.

Construction is now well under way and here are many photos of the progress.

One of the best things about our Mazatlán casa is Our Neighborhood.

Of course THE best thing is The Beach!

The two well known areas of Mazatlán where people from the US and Canada are buying or building homes are the Centro Historico, which is the old downtown, and Zona Dorado (Gold Zone) farther north along the beaches. There is only one other area of town that has immediate access to the beach and has the advantage of being very close to downtown, shopping and bus lines and that is the Los Pinos section.

Recently this area has been discovered and several other north of the border folks have bought homes in the area. Since this area is only a short stretch along the beach and a few blocks inland we thought we should concentrate on this neighborhood. There was only one house that was really close to the beach and in our price range. It's going to need a lot of fixing up, but the price was right and it's a large piece of property. It's also the only house we looked at with a two car garage and two more parking spaces outside.

This is an overview of Mazatlán with the Centro Historico being the lower section of the light colored peninsula and the Gold Zone in the far upper left. Mazatlán actually extends quite a way off the top of the picture

Here the satellite photo is zoomed in on the are of the house (in red) and the nearby park (in green). The Malecon is the wide street that runs along the beach to the left. At the other end of the park there is an El Polo Loco if we should ever feel like some Americanized Mexican food...NOT!
