La Bufadora

The United States has Niagara Falls for honeymooners to visit. Mexico has La Bufadora. It's a natural blowhole where the ocean wave action produces a spout of water.

The day we visited the ocean was fairly calm but we were still getting some pretty good water spouts. The crowd loved it when the spray fell over them.

Nancy enjoying the show and showing off her new handbag.

The seagulls like to sit on the rocks and keep an eye out for fish to dive for or a handout from the crowd.

This artist was painting on dinner plates using only her fingers. You can see the detail in her work on the plates behind her.

The tourist wares in the little shops on the walk from the parking lot to La Bufadora are nothing if not colorful. They had a pretty good selection of stuff this time and we parted with some money for something other than food and beer.

Nancy has been looking for a new straw handbag for a long time. They had a wonderful selection. The salesman had trouble with the catch on the first handbag he showed Nancy. Oh well, let's try another one.

I guess cheating less is one way to set yourself apart from the others. There is lots of silver for sale everywhere in Mexico.

The Mexicans are proud of their famous people. One is Frieda Kahlo, and artist that is copied all over the markets in tourist areas. She was married to Diego Rivera, another famous Mexican artist. Here Nancy finds a photograph of Frieda.

La Bufadora is near the tip of the Punta Banda peninsula that sticks far out into the Pacific Ocean so the shoreline is steep and rocky. The birds love it because the fish are so close by and the people love it for the sunset views.

A satellite photo of the Punta Banda peninsula. La Bufadora is in the bay on the south side of the peninsula just to the left of center.
