This is our airplane, a Maule MT-7-260. Tony Zeljeznjak caught us taxing out at Brown Field and we found it on http://ww.airliners.net. That's Nancy flying past Mt. Shasta in northern California. We flew from Olympia, Washington to San Diego, California in 11 hours elapsed time, about 7 hours in the air.
I grabbed a shot of our plane at the fueling dock with a big executive jet behind. Our plane hides in a nice hanger while the big jets sit out in the sun and and rain. There were lots of jets on the ramp because the Super Bowl was in town. Our Maule faces off with the Dolphin's team jet, and there's the tail if you didn't believe me.
A couple of mug shots.
This is what is painted on the tail. It's a Maule Super Rocket, the one with the 540 cubic inch 6 cylinder 260 horsepower engine. The STOL part is for Short TakeOff and Landing, good for dirt airstrips.
Ours has the patroller package that converts the bottom section of each door to clear plastic for a good view. You can also see the skylight that opens up the roof over the pilot and copilot's heads. Great for flying at night to enjoy the stars.
Unlike most small planes the Maule really opens up to allow loading of passengers or cargo. There is one door on the pilot's (left) side and three doors on the right side.
Of course you need a picture of the panel. That's where all the expensive avionics live, the stuff you brag about. The screen in the middle is the color moving map display on the Garmin GPS unit. It really makes it easy to figure out where you are and which way to go.
Nancy and Roy with Jeremy Ainsworth on the left, the fellow who sells most of the Maule airplanes in the world.
The Maule has been a wonderful airplane, but we have committed to building a kit plane and need the money to pay for the engine and avionics so we had to part with out pride and joy. Jeremy's Web site below has other Maules if you are interested.

So enough of being proud of our airplane. What's it good for? Going places, that's what!
