San Felipe is a small town in Baja, Mexico about a hundred miles south of the border on the shores of the Sea of Cortez. It's a fishing village that has attracted tourists from elsewhere in Mexico and lots of Gringos from the States. It's a four hour drive over washboard roads, but we make it in an hour and a half in our Maule.

Here's a lizard we found in the weeds next to the ramp where we parked our plane at the airport.

Compare these two pictures. The one on the top is the salt flats in Mexico at the mouth of the Colorado River where it empties into the Sea of Cortez. The one at the bottom is only a few miles away on the U.S. side where they turned the salt flats into a vegetable garden for fresh veggies in the winter. Of course the Mexicans grow lots of winter vegetables too, but in valleys that have natural water sources.
