Olympia

• Home • Up •

All work and no play doesn't make for a good vacation. Just because we worked 10 hour days Monday through Saturday doesn't mean we should stay home.

Bright and early Sunday morning we flew our Maule from Olympia up to Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands.

We kept our Maule in a hanger at Gower Aviation, We were ready to go at 7 AM, but they don't open until 8.

Olympia is a beautiful place with lots of trees. There's downtown Olympia where the state capitol building is and the southern-most part of the Puget Sound. We flew up the western side of the Sound over many small towns and houses spread out between the water ways.

The Friday Harbor Airport from the downwind leg.

Friday Harbor is home to many real fishing boats.
