One of the jewels of Hangzhou is the West Lake Park. It's a huge lake in the middle of the city. It's very popular with the locals and visitors alike.

West Lake has many pavilions and lots of lotus growing in the water.

The real lotus wasn't blooming this time of year and they were getting ready for a celebration so they made up these huge artificial flowers to float on the lake along with these huge numbers.

People in China make their own music whenever they can. It seems every park has at least one group of musicians playing their hearts out for a small crowd.

Kids just love the many statues scattered around the West Lake Park.

A boat fit for an emperor gives rides to tourists around the lake.

The Chinese bridges make room for boats to pass under. That makes them very picturesque.

Some teenagers enjoying the lake.

The city flower of Hangzhou is the Sweet Osmanthus and you can find them all over the city.

Playing Mahjong in the park is very popular and draws many onlookers.

In case you get lost the park has a map of the city, though you still might be lost. It's about a thousand years out of date.

A water buffalo greets visitors to the park.

An ancient fisherman balances on a log and waits for his prey.

The peaceful park is steps away from the roar of traffic and a quick taxi pickup.
